Pricible.com has launched what it claims to be the first grocery price comparison site in the United States that compares all products in food retail outlets, not just the weekly specials.
The basic service is provided free, the company announced, and offers services including regular and specials price comparisons for online grocery stores, grocery coupon printing, grocery list creation, promotions and deal browsing of local food retailers, new products information, nutrition information, and recipes. A membership fee provides shoppers additional features.
The site currently includes prices from many supermarket chains on the U.S. East Coast as well as some in the Midwest and on the West Coast including Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Piggly Wiggly, A&P, The Fresh Market, Foodtown, Waldbaum, Shop Rite and Raley's. Pricible intends to add more grocery store chains on the East Coast within the next two months and then to expand nationwide by the middle of 2010, the company stated.
Shoppers can select brands – with a large number of well-known national and refrigerated food brands available and some private labels as well – or can shop categories including frozen, dairy and deli.
